What would we do without you? Not just mans best friend, but family. ❤️

Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I’m an only child, so the companionship of a furry friend has always been helpful to me when I’ve felt alone. I have had some pretty great dogs in the past, but our boxer Kai has hands down changed my life, as well as our entire families life… for the better. He is 2 and is just the sweetest guy around.

Some say, “if you don’t like dogs, then we don’t like you”. I’m not going to disagree with this statement completely, but I will say, if you don’t like Kai, my energetic boxer, then it does put a bad taste in my mouth about you. He’s a very misunderstood guy, and his excitement and energy, turns some people off when being around him.

I am polite, so I would never tell someone in my home that they are not welcome because they don’t like dogs. If you are not a fan
of a huge lug made of pure love and happiness than that’s your choice. If you’re not a dog fan, there is a polite way to let the owner know, to have distance between the dog and you without being snotty, and this is totally respectable.

Josh and I, got kai after dating for a good amount of time, and recently moved in together. We immediately had a bond with him, and knew we would be the ones to provide him with love and his forever home. The breeder was so nice, and she still keeps up with how kai is doing, so I think we are both grateful for one another. She was kind of like an adoptive mother, and gave me the privilege of adopting most special fur baby boy in the world! Thank you Michelle 😘

Kai has been a source of energy for me, on days when I feel like I can’t get out of bed. A sense of calmness at times when I am having bad bouts of anxiety and just need love and cuddles to calm me down. He’s my natural therapy dog. Don’t get me wrong, he would be a horrible therapy dog for anyone else, but for our family he is everything and more.
When I was pregnant with my daughter, Kai became more protective over me. He would lay his head on my belly, and even felt Ramsie kick, which flustered him a little bit, but it was the sweetest.

Now that Ramsie is here, and is active as ever, he is gentle and calm and basically allows himself to be her personal jungle gym. She feeds him half of her snacks and dinners, and they just have a bond that is indescribable.

For me, not having a dog would never be an option. A dog is a part of my family. A protector, and not to mention something that will show you unconditional love every single day. There has been ALOT of hard days, and I will come home and see how excited he is to see me, and I have to stop and think, ok was today really THAT bad? No. Probably not. He is a reminder everyday to strive to be patient, loving, positive, and compassionate. On the days that are just plain bad and there is no fixing it with his energy, he is there just to be there. He lays next to me and reminds me that I am not alone, even when I feel like I am.

I hope everyone has something this special in their lives which allows joy and positive energy! For me, my dog is one of my top priorities because again, he’s not just a dog, he’s our family. ❤ Jess
