Finally…. DATE NIGHT! With my last week of work, and a short break from classes for my husband, we decided to take a night out to ourselves and indulge in the greatness of some fine dining! Accompanying us was my cousin Samantha and her husband Bryan, some of my favorite people, so we had a lot of good conversations and laughs per usual.
Similar to my review about Momos, One 19 North is known for its small plates or tapas, known to be foods to “share”. So of course we splurged and did just that! We ordered A LOT of food, and man was it amazing. It has Spanish influenced tapas creations from Executive Chef, Rebecca Kibler.<<< I loved this because it brought me back to my memories of studying abroad in Madrid, Spain.
I’m going to share some of the must haves from this great dining spot located in the heart of downtown Kirkwood, MO.
First glance: The atmosphere had very dim lighting with a casual feeling. It’s not a huge restaurant, so it’s more “cozy” as the seating is closer together (but not overcrowded). It has a gorgeous bar and a rustic backdrop allowing you to feel hip, comfortable, yet classy.
“Eclectic small plates, tastings & weekend acoustic musicians in a cozy spot with a wine-cellar feel.”
- Fast service
- Great bar food
- Great cocktails
- Great wine list
- Live music
We started off with some drinks to get the dinner started. The bartender was AWESOME. It was our first time meeting, but it was like talking to an old friend. Very friendly, and welcoming.
Drinks of the night⬇️ left is An Old Fashioned. A cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters, then adding alcohol, such as whiskey or brandy, and a twist of citrus rind. Hubby is VERY picky about this specific drink and he rated it a 9/10!
To the right is a standard spicy Bloody Mary with some salami, olives, and Colby jack cheese… mmmmmmm, happy girl after this one 👍🏼😊 I give it a 8/10!
Authentic guacamole: Clearly I took this after we all dug in, but your not missing the big picture. Warm tortilla chips, dipped in guacamole made with Hass Avocados, tomatoes, green onion, jalapeño, and cotija cheese. (I am not a big Avocado fan, because of the texture, but this might of convinced me otherwise) 👍🏼 $7
Oven baked goat cheese: this is similar to the baked goat cheese at momos, but slightly different flavors and textures. Creamy baked goat cheese with house made Puttanesca sauce and toasted ciabatta bread 👍🏼 $8.99
Fried chili rubbed chicken wings: cooked to perfection, with homemade buttermilk ranch 😍 $10.99
Prosciutto and Fig flatbread: Oven roasted flatbread, Gorgonzola cheese, Volpi prosciutto with a fig marmalade. Sam and Bryan weren’t 100% digging this because there is a lot going on in each bite, but I think mix of sweet and salty and creamy but crunchy textures makes it perfection. 😍👍🏼 $8
Chicken Tinga tacos: shredded chipotle chicken, with Baja slaw, jalapeño crema, sliced avocado and cotija cheese. Simply delicious with a splash of lime, such a fresh tasting dish… truly made me wish I was on a tropical island while I was digging in. $13.99
Crispy fish tacos: flash fried Panko breaded tilapia, served with Baja slaw, and avocado salsa verde $13.99 ( I personally didn’t try this dish, but everyone was pleased with it.)
Grilled asparagus: drizzled with Meyer lemon vinaigrette and melted manchego cheese ( seriously the best tasting asparagus I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a TON of different asparagus dishes!) $6
Dessert: Vanilla bean ice cream with a chocolate brownie and topped with salted caramel 😍. This really just ended the meal with a bang. Sweet, salty, perfection!
Thanks for checking out my post! I encourage you to take a night out and try this place, you won’t be disappointed, I promise!
